This demo shows how water flows through the RO unit. 1.
Treated water flows through the
pre-filter 2. The water is then forced (this process is
called reverse osmosis) through the membrane. Water that does
pass through is called product water. Water that is rejected is called
reject water. The dissolved solids are then washed to a drain where the product
water is stored in a holding tank. The ratio is 2 to 1 i.e. for every
3 gallons of water 2 are rejected by the membrane. When you access
this water at its tap it comes from the holding tank and then through
the final carbon block filter before its final destination at the
tap. |
